Growing old is not an option for all human being according to natural law. But there is a difference between advancing in years and aging. Your age increases every day, but that doesn't mean you have to grow old proportionately. Today, I am going to share with you my experience and what I have learnt on the topics of staying young.

Why Some People Grow Old Fast

Self-Made Prophecy

You are what you say or believe in your heart. There is power in what you say with your mouth or what you believe in your heart. Often, we are too careless with our words. When certain part of our body starts to show sign of deterioration, the first thing that people tend to confess is, "it's part of aging" or "oh, it's because I am growing old" etc.

We are facing a common enemy called "aging". The way you see yourself is how your enemy will see you. When you confess that you are a victim of natural aging and blame all your physical ailment on aging, that's why you grow old. You are what you say about yourself.

The bible says: “For as he thinks within himself, so he is.” If you think you are growing old, you are right. If you think you are going to remain young always, you are not wrong either.

Whatever you say to yourself in your heart, you are what you think.

What you believe is very important.

In THE POWER OF RIGHT BELIEVING, Joseph Prince, international bestselling author and a leading voice in proclaiming the gospel of grace, unveils seven practical and powerful keys to help you find freedom from every fear, guilt, and addiction. Do get a copy and I am sure you will be blessed reading it.

Stress and Worrying Too Much

We are living in a world where most people are not spared from stress or worrying too much. Every minute that you spend worrying over something, you are causing your body to age and deteriorate because our body is not designed to be under constant worry or stress.

Take a step back and learn to rest in the Lord. Do you know that when you try to work it out yourself, God goes to rest. But when you rest your soul and leave it to God, God goes to work for you! You were not made by God to live a life of stress because you were designed right from the start to live a life of rest.

Trusting God doesn't mean you don't do anything. Instead the difference is that the works you are doing now are carried out with faith instead of your own strength. It's called God directed activities. Meaning you are now trusting in God to help you to accomplish your works then taking everything into your own hands.

Do you often worry over things like what if you lose your job? Do you worry over uncertainty such as what if you have a terminal illness? The bible teaches us in Matthew chapter 6 not to be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

Instead, seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. "All these things" refers to the material things that you need. When you give God the priority and set your life priority right, you will find that there is little for you to worry over.

Once you put a stop to a life of worry, you will be one step closer to retaining your youthfulness.

Complaining Too Much

We are now living in a world that moves at extreme velocity especially in the Internet age. Everything is about speed and when we want something, we want it quick and we want it now. No wonder why people are getting less patience now and we frequently hear of incidents of road rage or fights revolving round trivial things. Often the root cause is because people are impatience or lack of tolerance. People are now quick to flare up at the slightest thing that displease them.

Hence, the birth of a generation that is quick to compliant. When we complain, it does something harmful to our body. Complaint raises anger deep within us, and that translate into higher blood pressure. Complaint does not solve a problem, in fact, it aggravates the situations most of the time and causes our body to break down.

God does not like complainers. Complaint to God is like disbelief, because it reveals a lack of faith that God is in control over everything in your life. And in the areas that you complain the most, that is probably the area that you may want watch out and work on them. Bring them before God and let God take care for you. God can surely do a better job than you do, for He cares for you.

Casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. 1 Peter 5:7

Once you are able to put your tongue under control and cease to complain, you are in for a blessing. You are now another step closer to longevity.

Be happy in life not because everything is good, but because you are able to spot the good things in everything.

What is the Secret to Remain Young?

Keeping Yourself Joyful Always

The bible tells us that, "A merry heart does good like a medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones.   Proverbs 17:22"

This is a very true statement, whether you are a believer or not. Keeping yourself joyful, and laugh often is one of the secrets to remain young. Science have proven that laughter is good for the body. Laughter is a powerful antidote to stress, pain, and conflict. It helps to bring your mind and body back into balance with a good laugh. Humor lightens your burdens, inspires hope and connects you to others.

Research have also discovered that laughter triggers the release of endorphins, the body’s natural feel-good chemicals. Endorphins promote an overall sense of well-being and slow down aging. Studies have also found that people with a strong sense of humor outlived those who don’t laugh as much.

Best of all, this priceless medicine is fun, free, and easy to use. So, start laughing whenever you can and spread your joy to the people around you.

The bible also teaches us that the Joy of the Lord is our strength. When you keep yourself constantly in the joy of the Lord, you will be full of strength to face all the challenges in life. That's how you keep yourself young when you are always strong in the Lord

Put Your Trust in the Lord

When you trust in the Lord, the bibles teaches us that you shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of waters. You will be always healthy (leaves will be green). You will also be strong to face challenges in life (will not fear when heat comes). Finally, you will be more stress resilient (will not be anxious in a year of drought).

Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD and whose trust is the LORD. For he will be like a tree planted by the water, that extends its roots by a stream and will not fear when the heat comes; but its leaves will be green, and it will not be anxious in a year of drought nor cease to yield fruit. Jeremiah 17:7-8

Stress has always been a health killer and is responsible many of the health-related problems. When you are free from stress, you are healthier and hence it's not difficult for you to understand that this will help you to remain young even as you advance in years.

Divine health is from God. It's not how well you eat, nor is it about doing sufficient exercise. Eating well and doing exercise are good, by all means observe them. But what I am trying to say is that eating well and exercising do not guarantee that you will be healthy. Let me emphasize this, you need God for divine health.

As you wait upon the Lord, you shall also renew your strength. You shall mount up with wings like the eagles; you shall run and not weary, walk and not faint (Isaiah 40:31).

With divine health, I hope it is not too deep for you to understand its relationship to youthfulness.

Meditate on the Word of God

But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night. He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither; and in whatever he does, he prospers. Psalm 1:2-3

Meditation on the Word of God has the same effect as trusting the Lord as I've described above. You can see that as you spend time to meditate on the Word of God, you are effectively detoxing your brain. All the toxic thoughts in your brain are being cleansed and they are replaced with things that are noble, honorable, pure, lovely and worthy of praise.

The result is awesome, your heart will be filled with peace because of a clean mind. And when your heart is at peace, you will be at rest. A restful heart is another ingredient for continuous youthfulness. If you want to remain young, make sure you keep your heart in perfect peace and in a posture of rest always.

Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:8-9

Live the Let-Go Life

Living a let-go life and letting God take control is the key to longevity. God works best when you let Him works for you. I mentioned earlier that when you try to work it out yourself, God goes to rest. But when you rest your soul and leave it to God, God goes to work for you!

If you want to see super natural thing to happen, you have to let go of the natural. Natural things cannot be super natural, neither can a super natural thing be natural. Having longevity is a super natural thing! As you live a restful life, your body will not be under unnecessary stress or harmful stimulus. Your body therefore will be slow to aging and that's how you can achieve your youthfulness despite the fact that your age is increasing year on year.

To really understand the art of letting go, you have to get this book written by Pastor Joseph Prince called "Live the Let Go Life". You will find practical tips on how to life a let go life and be free from worries and stress. In this book, Pastor Prince said:

"Letting go of your worries is not an irresponsible act. In fact, it is the most powerful thing you can do when you let them go into the hands of the One who created the universe."

Therefore, I urge you to put your trust in the Lord and watch what you say or believe. Believe right and you will live right. What you do and what you believe will have a great impact to your youthfulness to remain young as you advance in years. Worry no more, complain less, meditate on the Word of God and live a let-go life. As you observe all these, I am sure that several years down the road, you will be as youthful as years ago.
